The Thielert Centurion 1.7 engine is based on the Daimler-Chrysler;  Mercedes A-Class 170 CDI engine. This common rail direct injected motor is liquid cooled and controlled  during all phases of operation by a full authority digital engine control or FADEC. In its original configuration it produces 70 kW (95 HP).  A-Class W-168

Thielert modifies this engine for certified aviation use to produce 99 kW (135 hp) and guarantees two thousand hours of engine life.  The present time before replacement is one thousand hours with the replacement cost being pro rated to two-thousand hours.
